Hulagu Khan was the grandson of Genghis Khan, the famous general of the Mongols in central Asia. In the 13th century Hulagu invaded Baghdad, killing between 250 000 to 800 000 people and destroyed the Baghdad library and museum. The Iraqi museum was the home of many artifacts including the first written text. Many of these artifacts survived and remained intact until 2003. That was the year the army G W Bush took Baghdad. The army protected oil cartels and banks, but once again the museum was plundered with many of civilisations important treasures being lost to imperial interests.
